The Yuma Audubon Society is dedicated to conserving natural resources,
educating members on conservation issues, and increasing awareness about
the diversity of nature in the Yuma, AZ, area. Our constitution is here:

Audubon has sponsored Audubon Adventures, the Yuma Birding & Nature
Festival, and Audubon Christmas Bird Counts.

Meetings
are generally held at 5:30 p.m.at Arizona Game and Fish (AGF), at the
corner of Ave 9E and 28th Street. Please send an email to yaspresident@yahoo.com if you have questions.
Nov 12, 5:30 p.m.: Welcome-back meeting at AZ Game & Fish. Bring your dinner. We'll share summer adventures and ideas for field trips!
Nov 19, 4:30-6:30: Welcome-back potluck at the Hummingbird Gardens, Yuma West Wetlands.
Dec 2, 5:00 p.m.: Evening birding at the Mesa del Sol Pond, Foothills
Dec 10, 5:30 p.m.: Member Show & Tell. Bring along 1-10 slides on a thumb drive.
Dec 14: Christmas Bird Count all day. CBC Dinner at Eat Asian restaurant. Everyone is welcome, even if you didn't participate in the Christmas Bird Count.
Jan 6, 5:00 p.m.: Evening birding at Mesa del Sol Pond
Jan 14: Margret Hemming will share information about her Summer Program for kids.

Field Trips
Yuma is
surrounded by many natural features, including the Colorado & Gila Rivers,
deserts, mountains, the Imperial Dunes, and the Salton Sea. Join us
as we explore these areas in search of diverse birds, reptiles, mammals,
and plants.

Wednesday Bird Walks
Join
us at either the Yuma West Wetlands or Yuma East Wetlands every
Wednesday morning for a chance to go birding in one these great,
bird-filled parks. No experience is necessary and everyone is welcome!
Meet at 7:30, 8:00, or 8:30 a.m.--Check the Yuma Birders facebook page or email the YAS President for
the starting time and park.

Close to Christmas we hold our annual
Christmas Bird Count
(CBC) and Birdathon. We count and monitor the status of birds
around Imperial NWR, Laguna Dam, and Mittry Lake. The count circle
encompases desert, the Colorado River, lakes, marshes, and agricultural
areas; our species count is typically 115-120 species. The 2024 CBC will be held on Saturday, Dec 14. Please
contact our president at YASPresident@yahoo.com to participate.

- Black & White Warbler at Betty's Kitchen
- Rose-breasted Grosbeak at Hidden Shores RV Park

Membership
Membership can be at the national or chapter level, or both. Fee
structures and benefits are as follows:
$10.00 for local
(chapter) members
- Local members receive e-mail birding and meeting alerts, and are welcome to join us for monthly meetings and field
trips (Oct-May).
